LOCK THE DEALERS' PARENTS UP INSTEAD

To the Editor of THE EAGLE:

I have to agree with the letter from Joanne Larochelle ("Tough drug
sentence a blessing in disguise," May 25).

You really have to feel sorry for any family that goes though this problem.
But as Mrs. Larochelle says a law is a law. How can it be set aside for a
few, when others have been sent away for doing what these 17 Great
Barrington youths have allegedly done?

I'm sure these 17 young people knew just what they were doing. They had the
know-how to buy the drug to begin with. It's not like they didn't know what
they were doing. Maybe what the courts should do is lock up one of the
parents if they don't want there children to serve the time. I truly
believe if the parents had or took more control of their children and knew
more about what and where they are, this just might help solve some of
the problem.
