CREDITABLE INFORMATION REFUTES MARIJUANA USE IN HEALTH CARE
"Research shows medical marijuana helps many people" (5/26). Not true! Just
as physicians connected to the tobacco industry downplayed tobacco's
harmful effects, physicians connected to the marijuana legalization lobby
portray marijuana as nonaddictive, safe and therapeutic. This is a cruel
scam perpetrated on the American people.
Robert Gregg has shown nothing other than word-of-mouth in refuting the
harmful effects of marijuana that I mentioned (5/19). However, I have a
wealth of creditable information that I will share with anyone who wants
it. I'm in the phone book, call me and I will send it to you.
As of January 2001, the Mississippi Research Center for the National
Institute on Drug Abuse had on record more than 15,000 studies on cannabis.
None of them shows the raw material marijuana to be safe or effective for
medical use. Medical authorities agree that smoking is not an appropriate
delivery system for a medication.
Medical and health-related organizations who continue to reject marijuana
as a medical solution include: the American Medical Association, American
Glaucoma Society, American Academy of Ophthalmology, International
Federation of Multiple Sclerosis Societies, National Institute for
Neurological Disorder and Stroke, National Institute of Dental Research,
National Institute on Allergy and Infectious Diseases and American Cancer
Society.
Institute of Medicine: "Study of medicinal use of marijuana has been
misinterpreted and exploited by pro-legalization groups, as well as the
U.S. media in general."
The report concludes that "the future of cannabinoid drugs lies not in
smoked marijuana, but in chemically-defined drugs that act on the
cannabinoid systems that are a natural component of human physiology."
Marijuana is a danger to the entire physical health of any human being, and
highly additive. If you want facts, I've got them.
