Culkin, 24, of New York received a one-year deferred sentence and will pay
almost $1,000 in court costs.

Culkin appeared in front of Special Judge Russell Hall for just a few
miutes. He did not comment, but shook hands with the prosecutor before he
left the courtroom.

"He was treated no differently than any other defendant in our county,"
Assistant District Attorney Greg Mashburn said.

Culkin was arrested in September after a traffic stop near Interstate 44
and Kelley Avenue. He was a passenger in a car that was stopped for
speeding and improperly changing lanes.

Police records show Culkin and the driver, Brett M. Tabisel, of New York
likely would have continued their New York-to-Los Angeles trip with only a
verbal warning if not for the pair's nervous appearance.

During a search of the vehicle, police found more than a half ounce of
marijuana and several tablets of Xanax, a prescription drug used to treat
depression and panic disorders.

The deferred sentence means that Culkin will not have a conviction if he
follows the plea agreement terms.

Culkin is best known for his starring roles in "Home Alone" and "Home Alone
2." He has appeared in other films, including "The Good Son," "Richie Rich"
and "Saved!"
