GET THE REAL FACTS ON MEDICINAL USE OF MARIJUANA
If Bill Moore (Your View, June 3) wants information rather than
government drug war propaganda, then I suggest that he refer to the
Missoula Chronic Use study done by Dr. Ethan Russo of the University
of Montana and also GW Pharmaceuticals, which has developed a whole
cannabis medicine called Sativex.
Sativex contains all the constituents of marijuana and has been
approved for use in Canada for prescription and is marketed by Bayer.
The Chronic Use study follows patients that have received marijuana
(the poorest grade) from the U.S. government that has provided
marijuana under a compassionate use program that began in the 1970s.
New patients were excluded by the first President Bush in 1988 (I
believe). Also, I would refer you to the National Institute of Health
report on medical marijuana. You may also look into the research done
in other countries such as Israel (PSTD), Germany, Switzerland among
others. Also, if I may ask , show me one death attributed to marijuana.
I may also add, that I have used medicinal marijuana for a
brain-seizure disorder and chronic arthritis of the neck and spine
with great success.
Prescription drugs left me debilitated while marijuana enabled me to
lead a more normal life. I suggest going to the GW Pharmaceuticals Web
site and inspecting their research rather than relying on government
propaganda. Goebbels said that if you tell the big lie often enough
the people will believe it. Moore has proven him correct.
