TAKING ISSUE WITH CRITICS, JUSTICES ON POT

I take issue with Diane Monson's quote, "I am going to have to be
prepared to be arrested" ("Medical pot users can be prosecuted,
justices rule" (News, June 7). The government is not interested in
people like her; it is interested in the large marijuana production
and the open distribution of marijuana across California that has made
it more appealing to our youth than tobacco, and more available than
alcohol.

Marijuana is a very lucrative business, and the "business owners"
don't want to be deterred from their money-making by law enforcement.
It is no mistake that a marijuana dispensary has located next door to
a skateboard shop. When I was there with my son, young healthy-
appearing males were streaming in and out of the establishments with
small brown bags.

Dispensaries? I don't think so. Medicine? Not a chance.
