Re: "Dead drug dealer deserves justice, jury told," The Journal, June 9.

This attitude is reflective of what's wrong with many Canadians' state
of mind.

This young man's life ends after a drug deal that goes terribly
wrong.

Crown prosecutor Marilena Carminati says, "When he was lying helpless,
shot to death in his car, he was like all of us -- entitled to
protection of the law."

This statement draws away from the actual fact that while the victim
was entitled to protection of the law, he was also obliged to govern
himself under that same law. Had he done so, he would be alive today.
