VOTE ON MEDICAL MARIJUANA ALL ABOUT POWER, CONTROL

To the Editor:

All five Oklahoma House of Representatives voted against the
Hinchey-Rohrabacher medical marijuana amendment to the
Science-State-Justice-Commerce Appropriations bill. The amendment sought to
prevent the federal government from wasting taxpayer money and to prevent
the federal government from undermining state medical marijuana laws.

Their vote demonstrates not only a lack of compassion for the sick and dying
but they also show that they are not for State Rights; that is, they want
the Federal Government to control the lives of all citizens regardless of
what the majority of voters agree is right for their state.

Today, Alaska, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Maine, Maryland, Montana,
Nevada, Oregon, Vermont and Washington lost the right to run their states as
they see fit. Tomorrow it could be Oklahoma. Tomorrow the federal government
could take away your preferred medical treatment.

Our Congressmen would say the issue is about controlling marijuana but if we
turn on the lights we will clearly see the issue is about power and control.
