'CHILLING' BAIT CAR VIDEO RELEASED

The latest bait car video to be released to the public is the 'most
chilling' auto theft investigators from around the world have ever
seen. And it happened in Langley.

The video stems from an incident on June 6, 2004, when a 28-year-old
car thief, a repeat offender-who was high on crystal meth stole a bait truck
from Langley.

The suspect was armed with a handgun and drove at speeds over 140
km/h.

He escaped from police, but was arrested after a lengthy and
comprehensive manhunt one month later. He was recently sentenced to a
four-year jail term.

The edited video from the incident was released to the media on Monday
by Cpl. Tim Shields of the Integrated Municipal Provincial Auto Crime
Team (IMPACT).

It was released for the purpose of showing the danger posed to the
public by auto thieves, and the relationship between drug use,
violence, and unpredictable behavior caused by crystal meth use.
