FELGER IN TROUBLE WITH POLICE AFTER CRASH

By his own admission he is not renowned for his drinking, but that
didn't stop pot advocate Tim Felger from again landing himself in
trouble with Abbotsford Police on Friday night.

Felger, who is still awaiting trial after police allegedly seized
2,000 marijuana plants from his Bradner Road farm last year, fully
admits he had a few beers but was not drunk" when he drove his truck
into a ditch on Friday night.

Abbotsford Police Const. Casey Vinet said he would not confirm or
deny anything surrounding Felger's latest case.

However, Felger himself was perfectly open when the Abbotsford News
talked to him on Tuesday, putting his smash down to a condition that
he said forces him to black out at any time.

Felger said he was outside his new property on Essendene Avenue,
which he hopes to name Mojo's Bookstore, when he was called into the
nearby Fraser Valley Inn by a group of people standing outside.

Adamant he was still sober when he left, Felger then said he was
driving his truck to his Bradner farm - where he will live until next
week - when he fell asleep at Downes Road and Townline Road.

That resulted in him crashing into a ditch and writing off his truck.

When he awoke, Felger said two individuals had called the police and
officers subsequently took him back to the station.

I should have known better than to be drinking and driving,
especially with my condition," Felger said. But I was not inebriated.
Anyone who was there can tell you that.

Felger, who said he refused a breath test because his attorney was
not present, said he was still charged by the police for failing to
provide a breath sample and impaired driving.

It is the first time I have ever had anything like that. As you know,
I am not known for my drinking," he added.

Felger has already sold his farm in Bradner.

However, in a further twist to his story, he said Abbotsford Police
are holding the $500,000 proceeds from the sale of the farm.

That money, he said, will not be returned until he goes to trial on
charges stemming from the 2,000 marijuana plant seizure last year.
Felger maintains he was growing many of those plants for other
people, for medicinal purposes.

Short of cash, Felger now plans to move into the centre of Abbotsford.

And while he was planning to give up driving anyway, he admitted his
accident has hurried the decision.

The only time I would be interested in driving is during my future
political campaigns," he added.
