U.S. HASN'T LEARNED LESSON FROM PROHIBITION
Alan Randell was right on target in his letter, Regulating Drugs
Would Save Addicts From Harm, July 4. Not only addicts would be saved
from harm, but society as well.
When Prohibition was terminated in 1933, our overall crime rate
declined substantially and our murder rate declined for 10
consecutive years. So far, we in the U.S. have not learned any
lessons from this.
Perhaps Canadians are smarter than U. S. citizens and politicians.
Perhaps not. Time will tell.
