LIFE AFTER METH
Editor,
I live in Burnaby, but I ended up with your newspaper because a
family member works on the North Shore (Teens need to know," June 30 issue).
I am only 20 years old. Most would say I'm incredibly young, naive,
and know probably nothing about the world around me for lack of
experience. I disagree.
I have survived rape, bullying, obesity, eating disorders, and other things.
But what I'm most proud of is the fact that I beat my addiction to
methamphetamine and smoking.
I was a smoking, drug using teenager. I am now looking for summer
work until I resume university in the fall.
Because of this history, I want to be a part of any program that will
teach children, adolescents, and young adults to be aware of these dangers.
I want to help them stay away from that dark path that too many young
people are falling into today.
If you have any information regarding programs that need a volunteer,
or any sort of help, I would appreciate very much if you contacted
The North Shore Outlook to let me know.
I want to help, and I want to start now.
