FULTON COUNTY MAN FACES MARIJUANA CHARGE
LEWISTOWN - A man charged with growing marijuana at the rural Glasford
house where a man was fatally shot in a drug raid last month will stand trial.
Daniel C. Matheny, 32, of 27368 E. Birds Corner Road appeared Wednesday in
Fulton County Circuit Court for a preliminary hearing. Probable cause was
found for a trial in the case, though a date was not set.
Matheny and David Green were under surveillance by the West Central
Illinois Drug Task Force when police raided the home where the men lived in
separate buildings on June 23.
Green was shot to death in the raid after police said he refused to drop a
handgun he was pointing at them.
Matheny is charged with unlawful production of marijuna sativa plants, a
Class 4 felony. According to court records, he is accused of growing more
than five but fewer than 20 marijuana plants.
Another hearing in the case is scheduled for 9 a.m. Sept. 14.
