DRUG-ABUSE LEVY TO APPEAR ON BALLOT
MEDINA - A renewal levy to fund the Medina County Drug Abuse Commission
will appear on the Nov. 8 ballot.
The levy -- 0.35 mills -- would replace an existing levy that expires in
December 2006. The new levy would drop by 0.05 mills from the existing one
and would cost the owner of a $100,000 home $10.72 a year.
The commission contributes funding to 19 programs in Medina County aimed at
tackling drug abuse -- programs that include education, law enforcement and
treatment.
The levy is the primary funding source for the Medina County Drug Task
Force, and it also helps fund the Medway Drug Enforcement Agency in
cooperation with Brunswick and Wadsworth. The levy money also provides a
significant funding source for the Medina County Juvenile Court.
