NATIONAL RECOVERY MONTH QUICKLY APPROACHING

Across the nation, plans are well under way for September's 16th annual
National Alcohol and Drug Addiction Recovery Month, which is sponsored by
the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services (SAMHSA). According to
SAMHSA, this year's theme is "Join the Voices for Recovery: Healing Lives,
Families, and Communities," which celebrates the positive impact of
treating alcohol and drug use in communities.

Recovery Month observance highlights the societal benefits of substance
abuse treatment, lauds the contributions of treatment providers, and
promotes the message that recovery from substance abuse in all its forms is
possible. Each September, thousands of treatment programs around the
country celebrate their successes and share them with their neighbors,
friends, and colleagues in an effort to educate the public about treatment,
how it works, for whom, and why.

Even though SAMHSA reports that there are over 22 million Americans that
need treatment for drug or alcohol problems, Recovery Month is used to
build awareness among individuals, organizations, schools, and communities
that alcohol and drug addiction can be overcome. SAMHSA Administrator
Charles Curie says, "The journey to recovery can sometimes start from just
one phone call."

There is an organization that is always available lending a helping hand to
a nation that is being destroyed by drug and alcohol addiction. Narconon
Arrowhead, one of the nation's largest residential drug and alcohol
rehabilitation and education centers, proves addiction can be overcome by
using effective rehabilitation techniques developed by American author and
humanitarian L. Ron Hubbard.

"Sometimes people need alternative methods of handeling a problem,"
explains Luke Catton, who is a supervisor for Narconon Arrowhead. "And in
case of drug and alcohol addiction, we've proven for over three decades
that our non-traditional approaches achieve a much higher standard for most
addicts. Drug and alcohol addiction doesn't have to be a lifelong battle
where you're constantly fighting the cravings and urges to use again."
Catton, a former addict himself, speaks from experience.

According to Derek, a NARCONON Arrowhead graduate, "I was a heroin and
pain killer addict for over 10 years. My family had given up on me and
thought I was going to die and I felt that same way. I finally realized
that I was finished if I did not get some help, and that is when my family
found Narconon. The program gave me a newfound outlook on life and it also
helped me achieve my full potential in life. All of my relationships are
much better and I have better communication with the ones I love."

Gary W. Smith, (C.C.D.C.) Executive Director of Narconon Arrowhead says,
"Results drive the expansion of the Narconon network. Communities and
individuals recognize our successes in rehabilitating addicts, where they
can experience the joys of being drug-free. It is in this spirit that
Narconon Arrowhead proudly supports National Alcohol and Drug Addiction
Recovery Month.
