ENCOURAGING NEWS
It's encouraging to read Progressive Christians United Church and
First Methodist Church in Whittier ("Local Pastors Rally Around
Proposition 36," Aug. 7) support helping people, continually and
unconditionally, with drug problems who seek help.
It is welcome and refreshing witnessing clergy act obediently to help
and love one another, which seems the opposite from the disobedient
Christian right. We hear so much of offering tough love instead.
Another thing clergy must support is re-legalizing cannabis, which
would be to stop denying Christ, God our father, who indicated he
created all the seed-bearing plants and said they were all good on
literally the very first page of the Bible.
Further, my culture believes cannabis (kaneh bosm) is the tree of life
as written about in Revelation 22 and is for the healing of the
nations. Cannabis can heal the nations and it can help heal drug
addicts. It is time to stop caging humans for using this beneficial
God-given plant.
