'HOT' DOPE CLAIMS FIVE

"Hot heroin" is being blamed for five deaths last weekend.

After Vancouver Police said Monday that three people had overdosed on
heroin on the weekend, Sgt. Anne Drennan told the media yesterday that two
more have been added to the list.

Two downtown eastside males in their 40s were found overdosed together,
leading police to believe deadly doses of the drug are being sold.

Drennan says putting stronger doses of heroin on the street has been done
before.

Both police and the Vancouver Coastal Health Authority are urging drug
users to use the safe injection site in Vancouver.
