TAKE CONTROL OF YOUR OWN ACTIONS

RE: Protect the community; don't humiliate them (SDN, Aug.
31)

I don't believe that the community or the police think that all Summit
County teens are out of control. Unfortunately, the few that are out
of control garner the headlines and make the rest look bad.

Police departments are to serve and to protect their communities. Part
of protection is education (D.A.R.E.), and law enforcement. It seems
that you disagree with both of these, and that is your right.

It seems that you like to play the victim and blame everyone else for
your problems, especially law enforcement. It's time to act like an
adult; you are over 18 now, so take responsibility for your own
actions. To the other Summit County teens and citizens who subscribe
to the "victim" mentality, you also need to take responsibility for
your own actions. No one forces you to drink, to drive drunk, to do
drugs or to do any other illegal action.

To the law enforcement agencies of Summit County: Thank you for
"concentrating on protecting our communities." Thank you for trying to stop
the drunks from driving, educating children about the downfalls of drugs,
ticketing underage drinkers, stopping domestic violence and stopping all of
the other crimes that take place on a daily basis.
