UNETHICAL ADVICE

Randy Cohen, in his "On Ethics" column (9/9, FYI) advises a writer not to
"narc" on his drug-dealing neighbor. I was taken aback by his advocacy of
anarchy, apparently due to his lack of faith in law enforcement.

It is unbelievable that he can really believe "the war on drugs does more
harm than the drug use it seeks to suppress." He is either ignorant of the
destructive nature of crystal meth or naive. He should do some research on
the devastating effect this particular drug has on our young people. I
would refer him to a series on the subject done by The Star several years ago.

It is difficult to lend any credence to a column on ethics that postulates
that law enforcement is more harmful than criminals.
