SEIZE MORE HOUSES TO PROSECUTE DRUG WAR

To the editor:

Boulder City has a serious problem with drugs. Our family is constantly
watching the flow of deals going on. Shame on Allen Lichtenstein of the
ACLU ("Pot may cost homeowner," Sept. 15), for criticizing officials over a
marijuana-related asset forfeiture action.

First of all, for all the time and effort that our police put into fighting
drugs, they should receive proceeds from a seized house. I can think of
four to six houses on my block that should be seized.

You're right, the punishment doesn't fit the crime. The crime: ruined
families, broken hearts, divorce, kids dropping out of school (their
futures ruined), dilapidated neighborhoods, theft, spouse abuse, a decline
of communities, etc. We see much of this on a daily basis. The subject of
the story, Cynthia Warren, should be in jail, and have her home seized.

Our city has been trying to fight against drugs through the Parent-
Project, drug awareness in schools, classes through Boulder City Police,
and on-campus police. A clear message must be sent to those involved in
illegal drugs. To the Boulder City police: Thank you.
