WHAT'S POT GOT TO DO WITH IT?
Re: Dump pot bill: RCMP families (Maria McClintock, Sept. 27).
While I sympathize with the families of the four slain Mounties, I
fail to see how the actions of James Roszko justify strengthening
anti-marijuana laws. In fact, the Mayerthorpe incident shows how
misplaced the laws are with respect to controlling violent criminals,
in this case a person who was allowed to terrorize his community for
years with impunity.
The grow op on James Roszko's property was no more than a sidebar, and
it is irresponsible to suggest that stronger anti-pot laws would have
prevented the violent events that occurred.
