CONCERNS PALE NEXT TO ADDICTION
To the Editor,
Re: Issue needling South Cariboo resident
Is it something in the air or the water in the South Cariboo that
prevents logical conclusions?
Diabetic Garfield Lamb could easily turn in his needles at the needle
exchange and get new ones like anyone else.
Also a cost benefit analysis shows that taxpayers are served better
with harm reduction measures such as free heroin for addicts than
paying police, judges, juries, prosecutors and lawyers to treat a
medical condition. All of the measures in this regard are simply a
face-saving gesture for a society that can't get around the fact that
prohibition does not work and never will.
As a new sucker is born every minute to soak up government drug war
propaganda, to the contrary - this will likely continue. Garfield Lamb
should be glad he does not have to buy adulterated insulin on the
black market like those with an addiction.
The two situations are identical - yet addicts are forced to deal with
the government-created blackmarket and are forced to buy so-called
"controlled" drugs.
