THERE'S ANOTHER CHOICE IN MARIJUANA QUESTION: DON'T USE ANY DRUGS

I'm a young person, 19, who is responding to Carl Tuzroyluke's claim
that legalizing marijuana will not tempt young kids to use more
dangerous, legal drugs ("Banning marijuana just tempts kids to use
more dangerous drugs," Oct. 4). It is absolutely sad that Mr.
Tuzroyluke offers these two choices: Do you want your kid to be doing
OxyContin or "good old-fashioned" marijuana?

Wow! What a choice: What type of drugs should we want our kids doing?
Anyone else disgusted?

We are an absolutely despicable society. The assumption that the
absolute majority of kids are doing drugs is true!

Mr. Tuzroyluke forgot a logical choice that I do not blame him for
not remembering. The choice is "not doing drugs." But that choice is
fading fast as our society gets more and more lenient to things we
know are wrong.

Parents, kids and society do not want to stand up for what's right.
Instead, let's just legalize everything that is not right so that we
can never be wrong. That makes sense, doesn't it?

Alaska will become a laughingstock once we legalize marijuana. Why
are we not fixing the problem?
