SFU PROF GETS HONOUR
Simon Fraser University professor Bruce Alexander has been honoured
for his controversial career.
The psychology prof and a pioneer in human addiction research has won
the 2007 Nora and Ted Sterling Prize.
In his 30-year career at SFU, Alexander's research on drugs and
addiction, and the myths of drug-induced addiction, has been more
often than not met by loud headlines and irate letters to the editor.
Alexander led an SFU team for a World Health Organization study
looking into Vancouver's drug users and government response.
He is also author of Peaceful Measures: Canada's Way Out of the War on Drugs.
