MANITOBA CRACKING DOWN ON CRYSTAL METH USE

Winnipeg. -- The Manitoba government is trying to fight the rising use
of crystal methamphetamine by limiting access to cold remedies that
are used to make the drug. Following the lead of Saskatchewan, North
Dakota and other jurisdictions, Manitoba will require some cold
remedies to be stored behind pharmacy counters.

In addition, consumers will only be able to buy a maximum of 3.6
grams of cold medication at a time. Justice Minister Gord Mackintosh
said he's also planning a new public education campaign to warn people
about the dangers of crystal meth.
