RED RIBBON WEEK OBSERVED

Last week, the Twin Cedars nurse, Kelli Dunkin, had special events for each
day. Monday's theme was "wear as much RED as possible to kick off Red
Ribbon Week." A winner was chosen from both elementary and the high school,
they were Shelby Hall and Brett Wimmer. Also each classroom made garbage
can signs with the slogan: "STOP: think before you throw your life away on
drugs," and decorated the doors to show we "Shut the door on Drugs."

Tuesday's theme was "Our Future's so Bright We Gotta Wear Shades." There
was a speaker from the Marion County Sheriff's Department and students
decorated the outdoors with red ribbons. Also, in the elementary, each
classroom made posters with their hand prints and names for "These hands
will never touch drugs" posters.

Wednesday's theme was "Clash Day: Drugs and you don't match." Elementary
students walked around the track to show that they walk away from drugs.
Marilyn Smith, Marion County Tobacco Coalition, came and spoke to 3rd, 4th,
and 5th graders.

Thursday's theme was "Stay sharp - drugs dull your mind." Pencils were
handed out to each classroom and also the PTO donated cookies for "Smart
cookies don't do drugs."

Friday's theme for the high school was "Not doing drugs is no sweat,"
everyone wore their sweats to show it off. The theme for the elementary was
"Say Boo to Drugs," and they wore their Halloween costumes for their
parade. The Twin Cedars PTO put on a pizza party for all the winners at the
end of the day.
