COURT DATE SET FOR GROW OP
A Nanton man is facing charges for a local marijuana grow operation
following a fire at his residence.
The 49-year-old man has been charged with arson by negligence
following the fire for failing to contact emergency response
departments as soon as possible after determining there was a fire.
Nanton RCMP and fire department members had discovered a marijuana
grow operation in the house after responding to the house fire Oct.
27.
The man was also charged in possession of drugs for the purpose of
trafficking and a firearms offence.
Nanton RCMP Corporal Dave Friend says that nine marijuana plants were
found at the residence, as well as "a small amount of finished product."
The man will appear in court Dec. 14.
Friend says that the entire inside of the house sustained water and
smoke damage.
