CORRECTIONS OFFICER JAILED IN POT-SMUGGLING INCIDENT

MALONE - State police Sunday arrested Lila C. Simmons, 33, Queens, a
downstate corrections officer, when she allegedly tried to smuggle 55
grams of marijuana into Upstate correctional Facility.

Police said Ms. Simmons secreted the marijuana on her body with the
intent of passing it to an inmate.

State Department of Correctional Services personal spotted the alleged
infraction and called in police. Ms. Simmons faces charges of
fifth-degree criminal possession of marijuana, fifth-degree
conspiracy, official misconduct and first degree promoting prison
contraband.

She is employed as a corrections officer at the Bedford Hills
Correctional Facility, Westchester County.

She was arraigned in Town of Malone Court by Justice John Marsden and
was sent to the Franklin County Jail with bail set at $15,000 cash or
$30,000 bond.
