VIHA OFFERS HELP TO VARIETY OF ADDICTIONS

Talks with the Oceanside Community Crystal Meth Task Force were a good
step in helping the Vancouver Island Health Authority further develop
their addictions services says spokesperson Suzanne Germain.

"Everybody agreed to commit to focus on what is best for addiction
services and resources across B.C.," says Germain.

While the crystal meth task forces have an obvious focus in their
lobbying, Germain says it's important that VIHA enable help for people
with other addictions as well - while recognizing the importance of
this particular issue.

"It was a really good meeting and it was a really good discussion,"
says Germai.

It's a topic that can also be addressed through public consultations
for VIHA's five-year plan, adds Germain.

That meeting for the Oceanside area will be held in Parksville, Thurs.
Nov. 24, from 2:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Parksville Community and
Conference Centre. Everyone is welcome.
