PAIR SENTENCED FOR HOME INVASION
Two men were given lengthy prison sentences yesterday after pleading
guilty to a gunpoint home invasion connected with Winnipeg's crack
trade.
Richard Karpenko and Gerald Mayo were part of a large group that burst
into an inner-city home in 2002 demanding cash and drugs. The victim,
a middle-aged female drug addict, was tied up as they ransacked the
home.
Karpenko, 24, was sentenced yesterday to four years in prison, plus
another 18 months for a Domo robbery he committed earlier this year.
Mayo, 48, was given just under three years in prison.
