TRIAL OF HELLS ANGELS ASSOCIATE SHOULD BE MOVED FORWARD, B.C. SUPREME
COURT JUDGE SAYS
(CP) - The trial of a Hells Angels associate may not start until
November 2007, but that's too long a delay, a B.C. Supreme Court
judge said Friday.
Associate Chief Justice Patrick Dohm told a group of 17 lawyers
assembled for various members and associates of the Hells Angels
outlaw motorcycle gang that Kerry Ryan Renaud should get a speedier trial.
Renaud was charged last July 15 with several offences including
conspiring to produce and traffic methamphetamine; production of meth
for the benefit of a criminal organization; trafficking in meth for
the benefit of a criminal organization and trafficking methamphetamine.
Renaud is among 45 Hells Angels members and hangarounds convicted or
charged last year in a major operation by the RCMP.
Jonathan Sal Bryce, who was arrested after a July 2005 police raid on
a Vancouver Hells Angels clubhouse, is the first of the group to go
on trial in July.
Several of the accused are scheduled to be in B.C. Supreme Court in
two concurrent trials starting in November and involving provincial
and federal matters.
