PLEASE DON'T PASS THE POT

After four consecutive governments, most with abbreviated terms, it's
getting easier to count the promises the Liberals aren't making this
time around. For the first time in at least three elections, we're
not hearing about the decriminalization of marijuana. This has been
promised and debated for so long that a whole generation of kids has
come of age thinking the stuff's already legal.

And having "fixed health care for a generation" just 18 months ago,
Paul Martin has so far resisted the urge to promise to do it again.

Oops, the Liberals just promised a waiting-time guarantee for medical
treatment. This matches an earlier Conservative promise, and as with
the same-sex marriage issue, both major parties are mostly scrambling
to comply with a court ruling.
