STRAWHORN JURY FAILS TO REACH VERDICT

A jury has failed to reach a verdict in the trial of a senior
Victorian detective accused of drug trafficking and threatening to
kill a corruption investigator.

Wayne Strawhorn was in the senior ranks of the former drug
squad.

He has been charged with five counts of trafficking pseudoephedrine to
the Bandidos motorcycle club and the murdered underworld figure, Mark
Moran.

He has also been charged with threatening to kill a senior corruption
investigator.

His first trial was aborted and the second began five months
ago.

But after more than a week of deliberations, the jury told the Supreme
Court it could not reach a verdict.

The jury has been discharged and the jurors excused from further
trials for the next 20 years.

Strawhorn has been released on bail awaiting another trial on a date
to be fixed.
