THE PEOPLE'S WILL ON POT, ITS USE AND THE LAWS
The county Board of Supervisors has every right to be concerned
regarding the state law allowing medical marijuana. Not only is it in
direct conflict with federal law but the identification card does not
require a substantiated medical diagnosis. In practice, a "patient"
can buy a diagnosis from some want-ads. The county Health Department
does not have the investigative powers to challenge a diagnosis and to
report fraud when it is suspected.
