GROW-OP LAW ALTERED
Recent marijuana grow-op busts prompted Pemberton Council to draft a
new bylaw dealing with costs incurred by the Village.
The new bylaw states that if fees imposed or costs incurred by the
Village are not paid when due, the Village may collect such unpaid
fees fr om the owner of the land in the same manner as ordinary
property taxes. That means homeowners are responsible to pay for the
clean-up if a drug bust occurs in the home. If the fees remain
unpaid on Dec. 31, they will be deemed to be taxes in arrears.
