13 PUSHERS SURRENDER TO AVOID VIGILANTES

Afraid of being killed by anti-drug death squads operating in Davao
del Sur, 13 confessed drug pushers and users surrendered to the Digos
City Police Office.

In front of Vice Mayor Joseph Penas and the media, the 13 pushers -
one of them a woman - vowed never to return to the illegal drugs trade.

They admitted deciding to surrender in order to avoid getting killed
by vigilantes believed to be operating in the area.

For his part, Digos City police director Chief Inspector Caezar
Cabuhat assured the 13 people that he will do his best to ensure their
safety.

The local government in Digos City also promised to provide livelihood
opportunities to them.
