DRUG PARAPHERNALIA BYLAW BEING CONSIDERED

Harrison council is moving towards the creation of a new bylaw that
would regulate sales of hydroponics or drug paraphernalia in their community.

Under the bylaw, drug paraphernalia is defined as "all equipment..
and materials which are used, designed to use in planting,
propagating, producing, processing, packaging... storing,
containing... injecting.... or otherwise ..inhaling" controlled drugs
into the human body.

In Hope, Mayor Wilfried Vicktor has also been working with staff to
investigate ways to better control the sale of drug paraphernalia.

Under the Harrison bylaw anyone carrying these products would be
required to keep concise records of all buyers. This information
would be provided to the RCMP on each business day. Businesses would
also require a municipal license to sell the equipment - a cost of $1,000.
