13 HELD IN BIG DRUG BUST
Drugs And Utensils Seized And Shoes Where Drugs Were Hidden
The Narcotics Control Bureau recently recorded its biggest drug haul
this year in foiling the attempted smuggling and trafficking of
Cannabis weighing 940.85 grammes, it said in a press release.
NCB enforcement personnel found $3,331 cash, two digital weighing
scales and several modified utensils used for drugs.
An operation conducted at the Kampong Jangsak, Gadong area last
February 7 led to the big haul that also saw the arrest of 13 Malay
youths.
The 10 boys and three girls are between 18 and 25 years old. Two are
siblings and one is a student in a vocational school.
A man has been remanded at NCB for further questionings related to the
drug abuse case.
The man, if found guilty, is liable to be penalised under Section 3 A,
Section 3 (a) Section 6 (a) Section 6 (b) and Section 7 under the
Misuse of Drugs Act Chapter 27 that carries the death penalty.
The NCB said the drugs were hidden in wrappings of junk foods such as
biscuits and chocolates.
The drugs were inserted in the packets and resealed to make them look
like they had never been opened. Shoes were also used to hide the drugs.
NCB reminds members of the public that getting involved with the
misuse of drugs will be penalised according to the offences.
Possession for the purpose of trafficking drugs in the Sultanate
carries the death penalty.
