MAKING THE ISSUE CRYSTAL CLEAR

Why someone would want to put a cocktail containing such enticing
ingredients as fertilizer, ether and sulfuric acid into their body is
difficult to understand.

Why they would do so without considering the likelihood of that
cocktail significantly damaging their health is beyond comprehension.
But according to local RCMP, this is happening with increasing
regularity in the Cowichan Valley and across B.C.

And they want to stop this trend before it becomes an epidemic.

On Tuesday at the Cowichan Theatre, the police and School District 79
are hosting a forum on crystal meth, a trendy and dangerous drug that
is seeping its way into our society.

They want residents of all ages to be aware of how meth is quietly
becoming more and more prevalent in our communities. They want to get
the facts out about how this cheap high can destroy lives and futures.

They consider it a pre-emptive strike, a way of presenting the
straight goods about how crystal meth can lead to addiction and
mental illness, so people can make smart choices.

We recommend you check it out.

This week, someone in this community will almost certainly be faced
with an opportunity to experiment with this drug, perhaps for the first time.

It is to this person and their support group that lawmakers and
health officials are reaching out to.

We are all gifted with something called common sense.

Use it and the decision should be obvious.
