OUT-OF-STATE LETTER WRITERS SHOULD MIND THEIR BUSINESS
Mr. Joel Williams from Vermont, Your Views, Feb. 3, where is your
journalistic integrity regarding the punishment of a child molester
in Vermont who had tortured a little girl for four years?
Rather than questioning coverage of Steve Kubby, you should be
questioning why your state allows a child molester be punished, only
after exposure, with a slap on the wrist of eight years' incarceration.
Have you ever heard of investigative reporting this injustice? Do you
believe harsh punishment is not due a child molester?
Since Mr. Williams has so much experience in the news business he
should put it to better use in his own state and mind his own business instead.
He is hardly in any position to question and criticize California
laws and this paper. Investigating this case and the lack of
protection by the Vermont courts for Vermont children is a more
urgent and more needed cause than legalizing drugs.
He should first clean up his own state, which has a much bigger
problem. California citizens and this paper do not need the opinion
and criticism of a Vermont journalist. I can only hope California
does not take the Machiavellian attitude of Vermont with regard to
protecting children.
