ACCURACY OF ROADSIDE DRUG TESTING QUESTIONED
An Adelaide pharmacologist has raised concern about the accuracy of
planned roadside drug testing in South Australia.
Police documents obtained by the ABC show the Government will
consider tenders in which up to one-in-10 test results could be wrong.
A lecturer in pharmacology at Adelaide University, Dr Rod Irvine,
says police should demand the winning tender for salvia testing kits
be able to produce a system with very reliable results.
"It seemed to me that they could've set those levels a bit higher so
that there was better accuracy for the tests," he said.
