FUNDS WASTED ON PROSECUTION
After reading the Kalamazoo Gazette article about the impending trial
of Greg Francisco, I feel compelled to ask how is justice being
served by continuing to prosecute this misdemeanor case?
We are asked to believe that a police dog targeted Greg's van even
though a thorough search of the vehicle produced little more than a
microscopic amount of contraband. Yeah, right, and what was the dog's
name, Rin Tin Tin?
As a substance abuse counselor for 25 years, I can verify that Greg
Francisco's voice has been a valuable contribution toward a sane
approach to our country's drug policy reform.
Van Buren County should end this expensive charade now and spend
their law enforcement dollars catching real criminals. To continue
this extreme misdemeanor prosecution in such a fashion only brings
shame on the county and a widespread lack of trust in its system of justice.
As Francisco is fond of reminding us: "There is a better way.
Regulate. Tax. Control." Isn't the real reason he is being prosecuted
is that he is willing to use his free speech to speak truth to power?
