SEEDY SITUATION

I was also struck by the figure of 42 million joints when I first saw
this story flash across the Newsworld ticker some days ago. But I
quickly realized what was afoot, and am surprised no one else has
pointed it out.

In pot culture, "420" is an undefined code word of sorts for all
things dope-related (check the player numbers on the Trailer Park
Boys' hockey jerseys). Thus the RCMP's claim of seizing 42,000,000
joints' worth of the stuff seems less "dopey" when one realizes that
our mounted policemen were merely having a bit of fun with a gullible press.
