STRONGER, LONGER SENTENCES NEEDED
Dear editor,
Re: $25,000 fine fourth conviction of cultivation.
When is our judicial system going to wake up and start handing out
punishment fitting the crime?
This $25,000 fine would be suitable for second conviction if a prison
sentence was not appropriate, but definitelyis not suitable for a
fourth conviction.
The judge went on to say that there is a high cost of policing
situations such as this one, therefore a fine such as this would
assist in helping the taxpayers' cost.Did this judge ever consider
that all profits made by this individual were tax-free?
I think it is time that judges be accountable for some of their
ridiculous sentences. These conditions did not exist as predominately
when we had non-lawyer judges. And therefore, a life appointment
should be struck from the books.
The victim has to be the number one concern in all cases. Until the
victim's concern is taken into consideration in any sentencing, we are
going to face nothing but mayhem.Judges, wake up and smell the coffee.
