THREE ODESSA JAILERS FIRED AFTER BEING ARRESTED

Three jailers have been arrested and are accused of selling drugs and
other contraband to inmates in an Odessa detention center, according
to court documents.

Six witnesses, including inmates, assisted authorities in a sting
operation that led to the arrests of Anthony Moya, 32; Fernando Nieto,
31 and David G. Anaya, 30, last month.

Ector County Sheriff Mark Donaldson fired the three after the
arrests.

The former Ector County Detention Center jailers are accused of
bringing contraband to inmates including cocaine, marijuana, tobacco
and a cell phone. In return, the jailers received money and weapons
from people the inmates knew outside the jail, according to court documents.

Nieto and Anaya were each charged with one count of bribery. Moya was
charged with one count of possession of an illegal firearm and one
count of manufacturing an illegal firearm. Both counts refer to a
sawed-off shotgun found at his home.

The investigation began after sheriff's office authorities heard
stories of illegal activity involving the three and inmates, Donaldson
said.
