SPECIFIC CRYSTAL-METH TREATMENT OVERDUE

The provincial government's funding for meth-addict beds is a great
step forward.

But I believe that research and re-evaluation must be done at regular
intervals to make sure that enough is being done, a practice that
should apply to the funding of every treatment for addiction and mental health.

More and more communities are holding meth-information sessions, and
I advise any parent or partner of an at-risk individual to attend.

Many of us baby boomers are unsure of what meth is. I was amazed to
learn at a seminar of how long this drug has been around and how much
damage it can do.

When we were growing up, these drugs were known as bennies or even
diet pills. But now they're 100 times worse.

Specific treatment facilities for certain drugs are way overdue, as
are multiple information sessions for parents, teens and loved ones.
