DANGEROUS RUSE BY SYABU TRAFFICKERS IS UNCOVERED

SIPITANG: Police here have uncovered a dangerous ruse by Syabu
traffickers that can result in madness and rapid body deterioration
through continued consumption.

Disclosing this after officiating a Police Day function here,
Saturday, District Police Chief ASP Said Noor Mohamad said chemical
analysis had shown that the syabu was found to have been mixed with
other ingredients, such as rat poison and alum.

Such dangerous mixture might be due to the shortage of the drug due to
tight security at the entry points, including Sipitang, he said.

Earlier, Said Noor disclosed that the crime index in the district
between January and February, this year, had drastically reduced due
to the increase in solving rate from 56.25 per cent last year to 57.14
per cent.

On property crime, he said 10 cases were reported with four cases
solved, while all three cases of violent crime had been solved. One
narcotics case was recorded that was also solved.

Last year, Sipitang topped the list of 20 police districts in Sabah
with the highest arrest of drug addicts (79.31%), sixth place in drug
possession and seventh in drug possession.

Said Noor said the police would soon launch a large scale campaign
against drugs with exhibitions and briefings in the Sipitang, Sindumin
and Malaman mukins, involving village heads, JKKK chairmen and
non-governmental organisations.

He later presented letters of commendation to several police personnel
for their outstanding contributions towards the force.
