MLA HOSTS METH FORUM

Two of the best weapons in the war against drugs are education and
communication, and those are just what an upcoming forum in Burnaby is
all about.

Burnaby-Willingdon MLA John Nuraney is hosting a special community
gathering next week to focus on crystal meth and strategies for
dealing with the problem.

Speakers at the forum will include representatives from the Burnaby
school district, the police, government and the health authority,
including: John Les, the minister of public safety and the solicitor
general; Angela Marshall, a youth and family counsellor; Patrick
Murphy of the Burnaby RCMP; Sue Dorey with the school district's
student intervention services; Helena Summers, coordinator of
addiction services with the Fraser Health Authority; and Dan Land, the
manager of mental health and addictions with Fraser Health Authority.

The evening is open to the public and will include a
question-and-answer session.

The forum is set to take place next Friday, March 31, from 6 to 8
p.m., at CCM Centre at the Crystal Mall, 4500 Kingsway.
