ST. ANDREW'S DARE STUDENTS GRADUATE

The DARE graduation held on March 29 at St Andrew's school for the
Grade 6A&B students marked a period in the students life that
demonstrated a future of smart and educated choices. Below is an essay
written by one of the students expressing the importance of DARE.

Alguire Promises to Stay Drug Free

Hi my name is Jesslyn Alguire. I am 11 years old going on 12. DARE has
changed my life. Saying no was hard for me. I would have just kind of
shrugged off but they would have come back.

Now when they come I say NO! DARE helped me so much. So now when I go
to a party and they offer me something illegal or bad I will remember
DARE, my family and friends.

DARE has been a huge impact on me. It has taught me to stay away from
drugs and drug dealers. It has taught me about some drugs like
marijuana, tobacco, angel dust, cocaine, and alcohol.

Some affects of doing drugs can be death, slow reflexes, poor memory,
increase heart rate and so much more.

When DARE came I was glad. It taught me what to do in a bad situation.
If DARE hadn't come I wouldn't know what to do when drugs came in to
my life. Why is it important to learn all this? Well one day you will
need it. Now because of DARE every time I go out I think first. Am I
ready to say no? Will there be drugs? Are there parents there? Then I
go.

Every day that DARE was here I learned more and more. One thing that I
will never forget is to stay away. It has been drilled in to my head.
One more thing I learned is what to if anything happened to you. I
know what to do if someone offered me drugs. DARE taught me how to say
no. I can give them the cold shoulder or just keep saying no. I would
like to say thank you. Thank you very much DARE

I Jesslyn Alguire do here by make a pledge and a promise to myself
that I will not use illegal drugs/commit violent acts/ use tobacco/
consume liquor until I am legal age and I will only use it responsibly
and not abuse it.
