KEEPING POT ILLEGAL GIVES PARENTS ANOTHER THING TO TELL KIDS
When a son or daughter asks why they shouldn't smoke marijuana, a
parent can still reply "because it is illegal."
Though most B.C. kids will probably ignore this advice, a parent at
least has this final, desperate card to play. Such a card, however,
cannot be played when it comes to other easily accessible activities:
alcohol, casual sex, profanity, pornography, violent
movies/video-games, etc. The current law is certainly not perfect, but
it does send a clear message that the casual smoking of marijuana is
something that society is not willing to condone or sanction by law.
