FINAL DESTINATION QUESTION FOR THE MARIJUANA DEBATE
I have met Sam Sullivan several times and found him to be an
intelligent and compassionate individual. But there is an aspect of
the marijuana legalization debate that is not being addressed.
The largest portion of B.C.'S $6-billion to $7-billion annual
"crop" is destined for the U.S. It is difficult to see how
legalizing pot within B.C. would alter the activities of these
illegal grow operations.
There are many valid reasons to legalize marijuana. However, the
former mayors are being somewhat disingenuous if they would like us
to believe that simply legalizing pot here will solve our
crimerelated costs and issues.
